Manufacturing specifications
Supplier-fit checklist for aluminum die casting for EV charging enclosures
Use these specifications to judge process fit, material fit, quality risk, quote inputs, and delivery expectations without relying on broad marketing claims.
Typical parts
AC wallbox and pedestal charger housings; DC fast-charger power-module and control enclosures; Integrated heat-sink bodies, covers, doors, and mounting backs; Connector, junction, communication, and cable-management housings
Material guidance
Use a defined die casting alloy compatible with thermal, finish, and structural requirements; Consider galvanic interfaces among the housing, fasteners, busbars, heat spreaders, and mounting structure; Specify coating, conversion, paint, or other finish with conductive and thermal masks; Avoid material substitution without reviewing casting flow, machining, finish, and product validation
Process review
Thin-wall fill, fin geometry, ribs, bosses, gates, vents, overflows, and ejection; Machined thermal pads, seal grooves, connector datums, threaded inserts, and mounting faces; Coating allowance, grounding masks, heat-transfer masks, and post-finish fit; Porosity-sensitive zones identified from actual sealing or structural function
Quality definition
Thermal, sealing, connector, PCB, and mounting interfaces dimensionally verified; Coating, masks, threads, inserts, and cosmetic criteria checked after final operations; Leak or pressure checks only where the housing design and buyer specification require them; Finished charger validation remains tied to the buyer's electrical, thermal, ingress, and compliance plan
Cost and lead time
Enclosure size, projected area, machine tonnage, and alloy; Slides, fins, deep cavities, and complex trim; Machining of broad thermal and sealing interfaces; Coating, masking, inserts, assembly, testing support, and export packaging
RFQ package
Enclosure and populated assembly CAD; Thermal map, interfaces, seals, connectors, and mounting loads; Alloy, coating, grounding, masking, and cosmetic specification; Annual volume, tooling plan, machining, system tests, and packaging
